if an election has to do with popular sentiment and numbers, it looks like obama is winning with 90,000 fans or more that could barely fit into invesco field at mile high, whereas mccain will be lucky if he can get 10,000 fans to fill his venue.

in fact, cnn reporters state that mccain IS having problems getting enough people to fill his venue.

so there you go. if an election has to do with popular sentiment and numbers, i predict that obama will win the general election.

if an election for the president of the united states has to do with popular sentiment and numbers, obama will become our next president after the polls close this november.

even if the numbers are close, i predict that there are uncounted factions that will flood the ballots in favor of obama on voting day and before voting day. there is an unpredictable force in favor of obama, some of it is made up of the young people of our nation (there are an unprecedented number of young people who are becoming politically involved to get obama into office). these unprecedented and unpredictable forces will easily offset the sticky conservatives that don’t know how to have the balls to trust gut instinct and intuition to pull a stick out of the mud and extend it to the drowning victim, our nation, and by extension our world, this planet, planet earth and all it’s inhabitants.

things have gotten so bad i don’t think we’re going to fall prey to paralysis by analysis and vote for 4 more years of the same.

nature and the economy become more entwined every day. the health of both have been neglected under the republicans for the past 8 years. these two forces in concert with the natural laws and forces of our earth and universe will also be part of the cause that places obama in the white house as our next president.

there is a lot of momentum in play favoring obama to become our next president, and so he will be our next president.

other factors in his favor that rarely get mentioned. his personal growth and popularity are growing geometrically. he was almost an unknown a few years ago. within a relatively short period, he has gone from unknown to becoming our next president of the united states of america. people tend to perceive natural progressions along a simple linear scale. if we match our perception tools to what is actually happening with the obama campaign, we can now understand it better by watching obama’s progression along a geometric multi-tangent progression scale.

what this shows is that obama is young enough, strong enough, smart enough, brave enough, and has more than enough heart to rise to any occasion that may arise where the interests of the american people are at stake. a healthy and productive fearlessness combined with the love of the people and their needs. obama comes from the same place that much of the america that needs him comes from: the lower and middle classes. obama can help these classes that make up the majority of america because he’s been there. he gave up a lucrative law career after graduating magna cum laude from harvard law school to go help those below the line in chicago. does mccain have experience doing this? no. mccain doesn’t even know how many houses he owns! do you think mccain can understand what it means to wonder where your next house payment is coming from? no, he doesn’t. who do you think mccain is in a better position to help: you and me, or the large corporations? with all those houses that he can’t even count, i’m sure his corporate connections are much stronger ties for him than your needs or mine.

mccain represents an agedness that is closer to fear of death and status quo in order to make it comfortably to the end, even at the expense and suffering of the many americans who are literally dying for help: americans that will never receive the help that they so badly need under the current republican administration.

everything has it’s cycles. we just went through the cycle of decay, large scale american suffering, blood shed and death. this will be followed by the cycle of growth, prosperity, health and healing under obama.

it is not so much that it is obama that will bring this about, it is just that he is part of the cycle that is happening now and will continue until it is complete. we the people are moving towards renewing ourselves at the same time that our next president, barack obama, has swiftly manifested in our new american dream.

if you look at obama’s profile, it is clear that he has been rising to the occasion of leading the american people toward change and prosperity from out of the darkness of the current republican administration. if you look at the fact that he rose up out of great difficulty and then made it into harvard law school (not an easy task), survived the mental treacheries and twistedness of law school, and then rose to the highest of heights within harvard law school career (rare), it is clear that he has the strength of will and intellect to thrive under any condition.

this is just one example of many that shows he is ready to be our president of change.

the strategy and deployment of the obama campaign is moving at some of the highest speeds of technology. as a tech enthusiast, i am impressed by his wise and informed use of the medium. this is just one example of obama’s natural way of being expedient when it comes to meeting goals and challenges. this is how he meets and will continue to meet the needs of the american people, with expediency, wisdom, and cutting edge technology. the capabilities and success of obama with technology and other means IS UNHEARD OF IN ANY OTHER political campaigns and politicians of our time. no one else has been able to move as fast and be as expedient as obama.

heck, i want this guy in office just to see what he can do! it will be ground breaking and record setting! i can’t wait to watch him as our next president! having obama in the white house will be one of the great earmarks demonstrating the will of the american people to rise to any challenge and move toward greater freedom! it will be one of the major milestones and turning points of our millenium and in the history of the united states of america!

pick something and stick with it for awhile. that’s how we get depth within our learning. we all need depth these days because breadth of learning has become the overly utilized paradigm.

“be your own boss” or “be a man about it.” i started thinking about all the people and situations i have to confront, and this phrase made me feel like “the man.” i’m the man, therefore i will be assertive to my needs and straight to the point without being rude. be a man, be your own man… be your own boss.

even if you’re a woman, i recommend that when you need to confront someone, “be a man about it.” get what you need done confidently, politely, and assertively. know the direction you want to head with a given topic ahead of time. script the discussion ahead of time if you have to, write down what you’ll say and the other person’s responses as well. practice the script out loud with another person. know and really feel down to your bones the direction this needs to go in order for you to get what you need, want, or desire. i guaranatee you’ll start feeling better. then, try it out on the real person. you never know until you try. who knows?, maybe you’ll hit a home run your first time?

if you’re being a man about whatever topic (and you’re polite yet assertive), you’re more likely to get your needs, wants, and desires taken care of. in the off chance that you don’t get taken care of, evaluate your position again adding the data you got from the discussion. if you can make a better case and enroll them to help you given how yours and their personalities work together and how the discussion went, you’ll get some help or all the help. if not, you may need to try a different helper.

remember, you’re the man! you don’t have to worry about confronting others when it is needed. you just plan ahead to increase your chances of successfully enrolling a helper to help you get what you need, want, and desire. anyone whom you are enrolling to help you is a helper no matter what level of a hierarchy they may occupy. why? because “you’re the man!”, that’s why!

now go out there and: “be a man about it!” “man up!”

each time you try to the best of your ability, you build on your success because success feeds on itself!

go out and get yourself a coffee/tea or a tasty little snack. get pumped up!
you’re the man! say it with me: “i’m the man!” that’s right: “i’m the man!” “no, you’re the man!”

being agile in your behavior/action patterns

the following was paraphrased from a bikram yoga teacher’s instructions to me related to working with a temporary physical disability after a bikram class at: mission yoga :

“just because you start (doing one thing), while pushing against your edge; doesn’t mean that you have to (persist in it). you can back off a little, if you need to.”

comment on above paraphrase: so the flexibility here is being able to realize that you can change the intensity (depth), and the degree of difficulty on the next move if you have to. just because you went this far this time doesn’t mean you have to go as far next time. change intensity, and degree of difficulty as needed. don’t feel committed just because you did your posture a certain way a moment ago. when you repeat the posture (or part(s) of your body involved in the posture), you don’t have to persist in the same way you did previously. just adjust it to what you need it to be in the moment regardless of what you just did or have done recently.

“you’re not going to be the same everyday. you’ll have to pay attention each time. some days you’ll be able to push it a little farther. some days you won’t.”

my thought1: “utilizing your body to connect with itself and the universe in the present moment, by paying attention to your breathing, body positioning, tension and pain (or lack thereof), sensations, mental/emotional state(s), tiredness/restedness, etc. is the point. if you can observe yourself without judgment in full awareness and then take action in accordance with what you feel and see in your body based in what is versus what is not, that is the point. this is the primary reason we were given the mindbody, it is a directly accessible and initially finite instrument with which to connect with all things and all beings as well as the infinite, with compassion and deep love.”

my thought2: “it seems clear to me that there are 3 unifying spiritual practices across all practices: 1. breath is the center of all practice, 2. being within the present moment is the key access point for all thought and action, 3. asking a key question over and over again and marvelling at all the different answers is the way to honor and celebrate (sometimes to just accept vs. celebrate) the mysteries and relationships of life; and as well, that life is one of the greatest mysteries and marvels itself.”

i was getting all boisterous and voiciferous about an abstract subject, getting really enthusiastic about it, as if it had to be “The reality” for all beings in the universe. my friend said to me: “oh, so it has meaning for you.” at that point i grew up a little bit more. instead of always fighting to be heard and that my idea is “the idea”, and you better accept it or else; i realized the same subject, idea, fact, or set of facts may or may not have meaning for someone depending on the person. wow! less arguing and debating with people and more listening. well, a little more listening, but it gets a little better everyday.

speaking of “a little more” everyday, check out “…incremental change is better than ambitious failure.”, from the book Happier: Learn the Secrets to Daily Joy and Lasting Fulfillment

when it comes to choosing the right technique, way, or path to follow in life, spirituality, realtionship, or business for example; any path well developed/lived and well communicated/taught by another is a potentially good guide for one to follow. so to answer the question up front, all the well developed ones are all good. i’ve found many different ways to look at the road to success, no matter which one i pick, they all lead to success given they’ve been lived and presented well by another. “all roads lead to Rome.” a good book on your subject of inerest is a good place to look. the effort to ensure value and accuracy of the information presented throughout the writing and publishing process of a well written and well presented book is not to be underestimated. finding a mentor who you work well with can also be extremely helpful. in zen it is practically required.

the key is to get an initial feel or gut instinct about it. if the initial feel or gut instinct is good or better, try it out. it is not so much the subject matter, that matters (hee, hee); it is the way it is presented. in other words it’s not so important as to what information is presented that creates significance for the individual as compared to how the information is presented that creates true and lasting significance for the individual. i feel that each individual has a way that information is best encoded for them. when you find a subject that interests you and it is also encoded for you, then bam!, you’re plowin’ right through it. as my brother relayed to me once: he had read various books on the power of being in the moment. but, until he read The Power of Now by Eckhardt Tolle, it didn’t stick. the way it was presented made the difference. in fact, it not only stuck, but my brother enjoyed the book more than other books on the subject. this is the beginning of how a bonafide guru or an expert creates themselves. it’s interesting how one looks up to the “experts”, “gurus”, or “authorities” on a given topic. why? because they do not possess any more skills than you or i. the difference is that they kept trying things out until something stuck, and further that they did not give up until that something stuck. the willingness to make mistakes gracefully (or ungracefully) and to let the journey be an experiment are the other pieces of the puzzle. the final step is to put your experience out there in the world to share with others. in case you not only want to truly know and feel that you are and expert for yourself (which is most important), but would also like other individuals/group(s) to validate this, author Timothy Ferris in his book The 4-Hour Workweek has some great advice (pg’s 159-160).

finally, just try many things and know that you are on your journey to finding right livelihood or pursuit by doing so. it’s not that nothing will stick for you, it’s just that you haven’t found it yet. don’t worry, you will find it. it will come.

good luck in your journey, and never give up!

learn to ask to help from others if you need it!

-kudos!

taking the cap off of your stress

what do i mean by “taking the cap off of your stress?” what i mean is: when we’re really stressed out, it is helpful and often necessary to do a brief relaxation exercise, and then continue relaxing more deeply until you can: “…calmly look at a problem, figure out options, and take some action toward a solution.”
- D’Arcy Lyness, PhD

compound stress

okay, i’m pretty sure i made this phrase up. nonetheless, what i mean is the type of stress that results from the repetition of similar patterns of resistance to taking action on things. it can range from brief daily goals/tasks to longer duration goals like projects. right now, i want to focus on preventing or significantly reducing stress buildup (compound stress) from daily goals/tasks. here’s some good advice from D’Arcy Lyness, PhD:

“Solve the little problems. Learning to solve everyday problems can give you a sense of control. But avoiding them can leave you feeling like you have little control and that just adds to stress. Develop skills to calmly look at a problem, figure out options, and take some action toward a solution. Feeling capable of solving little problems builds the inner confidence to move on to life’s bigger ones – and it and can serve you well in times of stress.”

so this is one good way to “take the cap off of your stress.” try it. see if it helps. for the full article related to the excerpt above go to: http://kidshealth.org/teen/your_mind/emotions/stress.html . ***also, just past the halfway point down the page of the article is a great audio podcast on a quick relaxation technique.-> click on the audio podcast player and do a breath/relaxation exercise. it worked well for me!***

as you can tell from the link, the advice is intended for kids, but it is so well written and constructed, that i strongly feel it is universal in scope.

here’s to lowered stress in your life and those around you!

P.S. Wikipedia also has a great article on stress. check it out! :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stress_(medicine)

P.P.S. i saw a news interview with the author of this stress reducing parenting book(scream free parenting). check this out for real !
(the author earned his LMFT education and licensure full on!):

prelude:

today, what does it mean to be alive ( it was a statement in my mind before it became a question, yet phrased as a question)? why do i have this perspective right now? because i just lived through the most heinous sickness. during which, i promised the universe and myself, that whenever i got better, i would take to my life with a renewed zest. that i would really dig in as needed; to be, do, and have exactly what i need, want, and desire.

okay, what does it mean to be alive?:

it means living free and not being crippled by anger, fear or depression. i have heard in casual conversation with a therapist that depression is anger turned inwards.

to be alive means to me today to live my life with zest and not being judgmental against the self. being judgmental against yourself is harmful. it leads to an overly amplified negative sense of self. left unchecked, this type of negativity can undermine almost everything you do.
